A Vermont Farm Country Vacation Retreat
We have stayed at the Mountain View Dairy B&B twice, both times with our son and his wife and their two young boys. We were a little afraid that repeating the same experience would be a possible let-down, but it was twice as much fun...maybe more!
After the first time, the boys could not stop talking about "Farmer Denis" and how much fun they had. The second time, this past summer (2010), was even better. The thing that amazed all of us was how much fun we all had, even repeating the experience of two years ago.
Denis and Carol could not have been nicer or more gracious. We were spoiled by Carol's wonderful breakfasts, and by Denis' good natured generosity of time and experience. Mountain View Dairy B&B is exciting for children and relaxing for adults. I can't imagine a better place to spend a weekend or even longer. We're already looking forward to our next visit.
The breakfasts were great as well - the problem is that once you have had "real" syrup and "real" milk every morning, it's hard to go back to the stuff we buy from the store!
Anyway, thanks again for being so friendly and welcoming, and for allowing us to keep you up at night asking for more stories. are ever in the area again, you can be sure you'll be hearing from us!
Thanks again, Mike, Vandana, Sanjay, and Nikash
What an experience! It all started during Moose season and few years ago. My husband Kieran, a Vermonter, and his two cousins from Connecticut were looking for a place to hunt in the Northeast Kingdom. They came across Denis along his fence line and he was more than willing to let them hunt on his land. Then after chatting a bit, Kieran asked if there was a place close by where they could stay for a Denis said that he and Carol had been talking about opening up their home as a bed and breakfast. He checked things over with Carol about putting these three men up for a week and she said, "Sure, why not".And that's how it started. Kieran and his cousins had as much fun chatting and laughing with Denis and Carol as they did hunting. He was so thrilled with the farm, the area and the unbeatable hospitality of Carol and Denis; he decided to bring me with him in the winter to try out the snowmobile trails. There's nothing better than a hot, delicious breakfast and heading out right from their yard. I also had my first experience in a true Vermont dairy barn. Nothing like seeing first hand where our milk comes from and appreciating the hard work of a farmer. We helped feed and "clean up" after the cows. (I also enjoyed chasing a few barn cats!) We also came back the next fall to enjoy the beautiful foliage season. What a site from the top of the mountain! true Vermont adventure, please join us in visiting the homey farm of Carol and Denis Poutre. - PS They did get a moose.
